    How To Become A CASAC?

    To become a CASAC in New York, you must meet these requirements:

    • Be at least 18 years old

    • Have a high school diploma or HSE

    • Complete 350 hours of OASAS-approved training

    • Live or work in New York State during most of the application period

    • Submit two ethics-based evaluations

    • Complete 6,000 hours of supervised work experience, including 300 hours of practical training

    • Meet all one-time mandatory requirements

    • Pass a criminal background check

    • Pass an OASAS-approved exam
